…..but he wants changes before committing.

Barnsley’s magic magician manager David Flitcroft wants to have a proper sit down with the board before committing his future to the club.

“Flicker” has become one of the most popular Reds managers of all time after winning nine and losing just five of his 21 matches in charge which led the club from bottom position on New Year’s Day to survival by a point on an amazing final day yesterday.

Reds director Don Rowing confirmed after the game that the club will offer the 39 year old a new deal to replace the one that expires in the next few weeks but Flitcroft, who is highly ambitious, wants the club to start moving forward after fighting against the drop for six of their seven seasons back in the Championship, two of which have gone to the final game.

The Reds have finished just one place above the drop zone in each of the last two campaigns, plus 20th place finishes in 2008-2009 and 2006-2007 and Flicker said:

"We're so behind the eight ball in terms of our preparations for next season because we had to focus on staying up. A lot still has to happen.

"I don't want to be scratching around like this club has done for the last five or six years. We have not had a constructive chat yet but I want a bright future for Barnsley Football Club with youth, enthusiasm and drive."
