FA to probe Oakwell mayhem

The Football Association has launched an investigation into the brawl that erupted after the final whistle as Barnsley beat Birmingham City 1-0.

A tension-filled tussle spilled over as referee Mike Russell blew time for a vital Tykes victory.

All 22 players and substitutes got involved and managers Steve Bruce and Simon Davey were forced to go on to the pitch to restore order.

The referee let the players square-up to each other before finally showing straight red cards to Barnsley's Bobby Hassell and Birmingham substitute Neil Neil Danns.

Both clubs could face disciplinary charges over the flare-up.
