Interesting Stats:

Barnsley’s last two visits to Manchester City saw them concede 12 goals, losing 7-1 in the League Cup in 2004 and 5-1 in the old Division One in 2002.

The Reds have won just two of their 16 visits and have lost each of their last three visits with their last victory being that famous 2-1 success in 1996 when Clint Marcelle scored a last minute winner at Maine Road which continued their 100% start to that season. The only other success was in April 1989, also 2-1.

Overall Barnsley have won just five of the 30 meetings the two sides have had and Manchester City have even won more of the Oakwell meetings, five to three.

Manchester City have won their last three matches and 11 of the last 15. They have lost just one of the last 12 and that was away.

Roberto Mancini’s side have lost just once at home all season, and that was to fierce rivals and current Premier League leaders Manchester United.

Indeed that reverse is their only one in the last 31 matches in front of their own supporters since a Carling Cup defeat to Liverpool back in January 2012. City did not lose a home league last season, winning 18 and drawing 1!

Man City have scored in each of their last 31 home matches and have kept clean sheets in six of the last seven.

City’s first goal tomorrow, if they score of course, will be their 150th FA Cup goal.

They have lost just nine of 43 FA Cup home ties.

Amazingly Manchester City are aiming to make the Semi-Finals for only the second time in 32 years. Barnsley are looking for their second last four apperance in five years.

Barnsley have hope too as the last time City went out of the competition to a lower league side was as recently as the 2008-2009 campaign when Nottingham Forest visited the Etihad in a Third Round tie and thumped City 3-0. They also fell to Barnsley’s South Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield United the previous year.

Manchester City are yet to concede a goal in this season’s competition winning 3-0, 1-0 and 4-0. Barnsley have conceded just the once.

Like City, Barnsley can boast decent recent form and despite the fact they are without a win in three, they have won eight of their last 12 matches.

Barnsley have now managed to score in each of their last 15 matches since a 1-0 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in December, their best run for 47 years. The Reds last managed to net in 16 successive games between the 12th November 1966 and the 25th February 1967.

The Reds have though kept just one clean sheet in their last 14 away games and have failed to draw a blank in the away column for seven games.

Barnsley have lost just one of their last seven matches on the road, winning four of them.

The Reds have hit 90 FA Cup goals in their history. The next one they concede will be the 90th they have let in.
