Davey waits for cash verdict

Barnsley manager Simon Davey hopes to have funds to spend this summer, despite missing out on a £200,000 windfall.

The Tykes would have earned the money from a sell-on clause for Brain Howard if Sheffield United had won promotion.

Davey told the Sheffield Star: "The money would have been nice, but it wasn't meant to be.

"Hopefully there's going to be some money for me to buy some new players this summer.

"We've let quite a few players go and we've got some talented young players who will hopefully be pushing hard for a first-team place.

"It's still early days, so we'll see what happens over the summer with regards to any transfers."
