Davey set for budget meeting

Davey has yet to discuss his summer plans with Cryne, but hopes to bring in several new faces in a streamlined squad for next season. Davey told the Star: "Hopefully there's going to be some money for me to buy some new players this summer, but I've got to sit down with Patrick and discuss that. "We've let quite a few players go and we've got some talented young players who will hopefully be pushing hard for a first-team place. "It's still early days, so we'll see what happens over the summer with regards to any transfers." Meanwhile, Sheffield United's failure to win promotion has cost the Tykes an extra £200,000 they would have received from the Blades due to a clause inserted in Brian Howard's contract when he moved to Bramall Lane in January.
