Davey praises teenage ace

Barnsley boss Simon Davey is expecting starlet Reuben Noble-Lazarus to be a major figure in his first-team plans next season.

The 15-year-old became the youngest-ever player to feature in a Football League game this season and has agreed terms on a first-ever two-year professional deal.

Davey told the Sheffield Star: "He's a very talented kid and he'll train with the first team next season. I'm sure we'll see an acceleration in his talent.

"He's had a taste of what first-team football is all about last season and I know he's really looking forward to making that step up."

Meanwhile, Davey has been handed a vote of confidence to carry on in charge at Oakwell next season.

He added: "I love being the manager of this football club, it's a fantastic football club.

"I'm glad to have been given the opportunity to try and make improvements next season."
