Davey hails two-goal Odejayi
10 Apr 2008 - 08:27:05
Barnsley manager Simon Davey hailed Kayode Odejayi after the striker put his FA Cup disappointment behind him to help fire the Tykes to a 3-0 victory over Watford.
Odejayi missed a gilt-edged chance in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final defeat to Cardiff City at Wembley, but two goals against the Hornets in the Championship on Wednesday evening helped move his side out of the relegation zone.
"We always believe in him and he has answered his critics," said Davey.
"He had the world on his shoulders over the weekend but he came in with a big smile on his face on Monday morning and got his rewards.
"Centre-forwards live and die by their goal ratio which has not been good for Kay this year. He knows that but he works very hard and he is a lovely lad.
"To bounce back from Sunday like that is incredible."
