Davey hails Hume recovery
16 Jul 2009 - 12:58:03
Barnsley manager Simon Davey is confident that striker Iain Hume will complete a successful comeback from a life-threatening head injury.
The 25-year-old suffered a fractured skull against Sheffield United last November and has not featured for the Tykes since then.
However, he is now in contention for a return during the club's pre-season programme.
Davey told the Sheffield Star: "Iain doesn't need help with the mental side of things, but there is a facility there if he does need it.
"But he's fine, he's one of these players who just wants to get back playing in a game after an injury and start scoring goals.
"The quicker he does that the quicker he puts a few more demons to bed. I look at him now and he doesn't look any different.
"Of course there are times when you look across and you wince to see if he's going to go in for a header, but I've not seen him pull out of a challenge yet."
