Davey forgets about Howard
04 Oct 2008 - 11:08:22
Barnsley manager Simon Davey has urged the club to move on quickly and forget about departed skipper Brian Howard, who has joined Sheffield United.
The 25-year-old has signed for the Blades on an initial loan basis, with a permanent deal to be completed when the transfer window opens again in January.
Davey told the Tykes' official club website: "We all know the Brian Howard situation now. He has been a fantastic servant to this club but it is time to look to the future.
"We have to look after what we have here. It is history now. I have no sympathy for a player who does not want to play for this club.
"I have always had a fantastic relationship with Brian, but we now have to move on. We have to look to the future and that starts for Barnsley Football Club on Saturday."
Howard scored 28 goals in 137 appearances for Barnsley during his three years at Oakwell, captaining the side to the semi-finals of the FA Cup last season.
