Barnsley manager Simon Davey is delighted that the club's Oakwell ground has been chosen to host Manchester City's opening UEFA Cup tie next month.
The Premier League side are unable to play the game at Eastlands on either July 17 or July 31 as their new pitch will not be ready in time.
Davey told the Tykes' official website: "It's a fantastic honour for the club to host this game.
"It promises be a great night of European football and should give us something to aspire to in the years to come.
"It's a great coup and, who knows, maybe we can take this club into its own European adventure one day."
