The Reds were frustrated by an outstanding performance from Lincoln keeper Rob Burch. But substitute Daniel Bogdanovic finally broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute when he took advantage of a slip up by City centre-back Janos Kovacs and fired home to win it 1-0. Tykes manager Davey said: "I felt we performed well. We created a lot of chances and controlled the game. "It was a battle. It was always going to be a tough game and it was a potential banana skin for us. "But when we got one clinical chance we put it away. It was a great strike. "It's good that we are creating lots of chances but I'd prefer a few more of them went in the net." Plucky Lincoln battled hard against a team two divisions above them with new signing Rene Howe bringing a tremendous save out of Luke Steele early on. Lincoln winger Jamie Clarke who troubled the Barnsley defence with his pace broke clear in the 64th minute but was again denied by Steele. Lincoln manager Peter Jackson said: "We performed well and I was just disappointed with the way we gifted Barnsley the goal. "It was a mistake and we got punished. I thought Kovacs was magnificent but he will be remembered for that one mistake. "I'm proud of my players. Rob Burch showed he is one of the best keepers outside of the Premiership. He was excellent. He's got better and better since he's arrived."
