Ex Reds boss back in work. Simon Davey will drop from the Championship to non-league in the space of nine months after being handed the reigns at the Football League’s bottom club Darlington. The ex Barnsley boss who left Oakwell in August after three years in charge takes over the Quakers with the debt-ridden club bottom of League Two, 16 points from safety with just 10 games remaining. Darlo, who have already dispensed with Colin Todd and Steve Staunton this season have won just five matches all season and just one of their last 11, but that game came at the weekend when they claimed a surprising 2-0 win at play-off chasing Shrewsbury. Davey, who will be joined by Ryan Kidd, has signed a one year deal at the Northern Echo arena.
