Broken leg woe for Mattis
15 Oct 2007 - 16:40:33
Barnsley midfielder Dwayne Mattis will not play again this year after breaking his leg while on loan with Walsall.
The 26-year-old had to be stretchered off the pitch midway through the first half of the Saddlers' goalless draw with Tranmere Rovers and will be sidelined for three months.
Tykes boss Simon Davey told the club's official website: "Dwayne has broken it. He's suffered a fractured fibula and will be in a cast for the foreseeable future."
Walsall boss Richard Money had feared the worst, saying after Friday's game: "It's not looking great. We're hoping that he hasn't cracked a bone but he'll have an X-ray on Monday to find out whether that's the case.
"Obviously we're keeping our fingers crossed. We hope he hasn't cracked something but we think he may have."
