Boggy In Shock Oakwell Return?!

Reds lead chase for free agent. Daniel Bogdanovic could be set for a shock return to Oakwell after cash strapped Sheffield United made the Malta man available on a free transfer. “Boggy” left Barnsley for the Blades last summer in very acrimonious circumstances after finishing the 2009-2010 season as The Reds top scorer with 14 goals. The 31 year old claimed he was moving across South Yorkshire to enhance his chances of fulfilling his dream to play in the Premier League. Unfortunately for him, but to the amusement of the Barnsley supporters he left behind, Bogdanovic has endured a torrid 12 months at Bramall Lane scoring just five times in 17 starts (plus 21 appearances from the bench) as the Blades were relegated to League One for the first time in 27 years- a fate confirmed by a 2-2 draw with The Reds in which Bogdanovic, who missed the game through injury was serenaded by chance of Daniel Leagueoneovic by the travelling support. The Maltese international has now recovered and featured in his country’s 3-1 Euro 2012 qualifying defeat to Greece on the 14th June, but new Blades boss and ex Reds gaffer Danny Wilson has been ordered to trim the wage bill by chairman Kevin McCabe and Bogdanovic is now deemed surplus to requirements.  Despite the ill feeling from the Oakwell faithful it is believed Bogdanovic would jump at the chance to return to the club where he made his name in England after scoring 19 times in 49 appearances between 2009 and 2010 and as Reds gaffer Keith Hill is working on a shoestring budget, a free transfer signing of a proven Championship goalscorer would be ideal to complement new striker Craig Davies. The Reds are not the only Championship side in the running however as Burnley, Ipswich and Peterborough are all on the hunt for striking reinforcements this summer and all three have enquired about Bogdanovic.
