Bogdanovic signed a full contract with the Tykes last Monday after moving from Bulgarian team Lokomotiv Sofia, while Mifsud is on loan from Coventry until the summer.

Both represent Malta on the international stage and Bogdanovic hopes their run in the Championship will encourage young players in their country.

He told the Sheffield Star: "Having two Maltese players turning out for the same team in England is a plus for our national side.

"Michael is a strange type of player, there are not many like him. He's very fast and a good goalscorer.

"I'd love to think that our move to Barnsley will help to enhance the image of Maltese football and create new opportunities for the country's youngsters."
