Bogdanovic enjoys call of duty
Bogdanovic played the full 90 minutes in Malta's 1-0 friendly defeat to the Czech Republic in Jablonec on Friday and hopes to start in his country's World Cup qualifier against Sweden in Gothenburg on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old, signed from Lokomotiv Sofia for an undisclosed fee in January 2009, told Barnsley's official website: "Unfortunately many today see playing for their country as a hassle because they claim that too many matches throughout the
year makes them perform below their standard.
"All I can say to that is that representing your country is an honour and not a joke. It is like going to war for your country. The only difference is that our weapon is a harmless ball and our battlefield is that green rectangle.
"I wish every youngster has the same goal in their career - they have to play for their country whatever it may be."
He added: "It is something that not everyone can experience and I feel very lucky being a footballer and representing my country."
