Dawson hopes to play a part

Barnsley midfielder Stephen Dawson is hoping to return to the squad for the home game with Brighton.

The Irishman has missed the last 10 matches due to an ankle ligament injury sustained at Ipswich in mid-January and is hoping to play some part as the Tykes return to league action.

Flitcroft, whose side were thrashed 5-0 at Manchester City in the FA Cup at the weekend, has no new injury or suspension problems but the manager could be tempted to make one or two changes as the Tykes bid to climb out of the relegation zone.

Midfielder Jacob Mellis, defender Rory Delap and winger Jim O'Brien are pushing for recalls, while defender Jim McNulty remains sidelined with an ankle injury.

Barnsley have taken only one point from their last three league games and slipped to the foot of the table at the weekend.

Gus Poyet's Brighton have a striker crisis for the trip.

Ashley Barnes is suspended after he was red-carded for the second time in a month at Bolton on Saturday.

Barnes has been hit with an initial four-game ban, but the FA could bring additional charges after he appeared to trip referee Lee Miller.

Craig Mackail-Smith was last week ruled out for the season with an Achilles injury, while Will Hoskins has a knee problem, so Leonardo Ulloa is the Seagulls' only available senior striker.

Boss Poyet is hopeful of making a loan signing by the end of the week, but probably not in time for Tuesday.

At least the Seagulls manager has no fresh injury concerns following the 1-0 defeat at the Reebok Stadium.
