Jennings banned for Reds

Barnsley will be without suspended summer signing Dale Jennings for their first-round Capital One Cup tie against Scunthorpe.

Midfielder/striker Jennings, signed for B#250,000 from Bayern Munich in June, was shown a straight red card for areckless challenge six minutes after going on as a second-half substitute in Barnsley's opening-day defeat to Wigan and will sit out the next three matches.

Another recent recruit, defender Lewin Nyatanga, will miss out again as he nurses a hamstring strain, but manager David Flitcroft has no other selection concerns.

Flitcroft hinted at fielding a similar side to the one that lined up against Wigan on Saturday, but midfield pair Jim O'Brien and Tomasz Cywka are hoping to start.

Scunthorpe will be without suspended defender Eddie Nolan and striker Jordan Clark for their first-round Capital One Cup tie at Barnsley.

Nolan was shown two yellow cards in the opening-day win over Mansfield and sits out a one-game ban, while on-loan Clark is ineligible to play against his parent club.

Terry Hawkridge has been filling in at right-back during pre-season, but Christian Ribeiro will make his first appearance for the club in Nolan's absence since returning on a permanent basis earlier in the summer

Boss Brian Laws has no other injury worries, but Etienne Esajas is not yet match fit and fellow summer signing Chris Iwelumo will start on the bench again as he looks to improve his match fitness.
