Lalkovic banned for Reds

Barnsley will be without suspended forward Milan Lalkovic for the home game against Preston.

Lalkovic was shown a straight red card for his two-footed tackle on Nathan Clarke in the midweek draw at Leyton Orient, but head coach Lee Johnson has no other new injury or suspension issues.

Defender Peter Ramage (thigh) could return to contention following an eight-game injury absence and striker Jabo Ibehre, on loan from Colchester, is pushing for his first start following three substitute appearances.

Both the Reds and Preston have won six and drawn one of their last seven league games.

Top scorer Joe Garner is over his illness and will be expected to lead Preston's line again.

The 20-goal striker had to come off in the second half of Tuesday's win over Peterborough because he had been battling a virus but he returned to training on Thursday and was over the condition.

Jermaine Beckford, who has scored four goals in his last five games, will be hoping to keep his starting spot having recovered from an ear infection which he revealed left him considering retirement.

The ex-Leeds and Everton forward believes he is another week away from what he would consider full fitness and Grayson has had a squad free from injury ever since he returned.
