Mellis missing for Reds

Barnsley midfielder Jacob Mellis has been ruled out of the South Yorkshire derby clash with Doncaster due to an ankle injury.

Mellis damaged ligaments during last Friday's draw at Ipswich and was replaced by Jim O'Brien, who is expected to return to the starting line-up as he went on to win the man-of-the-match award.

Luke Steele remains sidelined with his long-term back injury so on-loan Jack Butland will continue in goal, but otherwise manager David Flitcroft has a full-strength squad to choose from.

Winger Paddy McCourt shook off a gluteal problem in time to start last week and is expected to resume in midfield despite being replaced just after the hour-mark by Kelvin Etuhu.

Theo Robinson will return to the reckoning for Doncaster.

Summer signing Robinson was a late withdrawal against Brighton last weekend due to a hamstring strain but the striker has been declared fit for Saturday.

Rovers boss Paul Dickov has been dealt an injury blow with the news that captain Rob Jones could be out for around two months with a neck injury. The centre-half was sent for a scan this week after suffering problems during the warm-up prior to the home defeat to Brighton.

Jones joins left-back James Husband (shoulder) and forward Harry Forrester (torn quad) on the sidelines.
