Robins dump Reds in drop zone

Swindon scored three second-half goals to stretch their unbeaten run in Sky Bet League One to seven games with a 3-0 success at struggling Barnsley.

Wing-back Nathan Byrne opened the scoring in the 58th minute before substitutes Jake Reeves and Andy Williams sealed victory late on to leave the hosts in the relegation zone.

Tykes centre-back Jean-Yves M'Voto volleyed over in the 22nd minute before Robins striker Michael Smith saw his low shot denied by goalkeeper Ross Turnbull in a goalless opening period.

On-loan Barnsley forward Devante Cole fired straight at the legs of visiting goalkeeper Wes Foderingham early in the second half, while Turnbull had to be alert to save from Smith and Nathan Thompson.

Byrne broke the deadlock with a low shot into the bottom corner from just inside the area.

He then teed-up Reeves for a simple close-range finish eight minutes from time before striker Williams swept home to claim his fourth goal in four games a minute later.
