Barnsley boss Simon Davey has begun a major rebuilding programme at Oakwell by releasing a number of first-team players, including Antony Kay and Marc Richards.
Centre-back Kay is expected to head to Huddersfield Town to join former Tykes boss Andy Ritchie, while striker Richards has been linked with League One Port Vale.
Also allowed to leave Oakwell are Ryan Laight, Stefan Holt, Nathan Jarman and Neil Austin.
Meanwhile, captain Paul Reid and midfielder Brian Howard have signed new two-year contracts with the Tykes.
Hungarian forward Peter Rajczi has returned home to Ujpest Dozsa following the end of his loan spell, but Barnsley hope to be able to broker a permanent deal this summer.
