A Look At The Midweek Action

The incredible run continues to lift Reds out of the bottom three………

…….. Barnsley have now won SIX games in a row in league and cup for the first time in 33 years!

Barnsley and Middlesbrough are the only Championship teams to win six in a row this season.

This victory lifts The Reds above Wolves and out of the bottom three. Just 24 days and four games ago, Barnsley were seven points adrift of safety!

The Reds came from 1-0 down to win a game last night for the first time since April 2011 and incredibly it is the first time Barnsley have won after being behind at half time since December 2009!

They have now come from behind to win matches twice in David Flitcroft’s six weeks in charge. They did not manage to do it at all during Keith Hill’s tenure.

Last night was only the second time Barnsley have conceded a first half goal under Flitcroft and the first time they have conceded in the first 10 minutes of a game under him.

The Reds have also now scored at least two goals in each of their last five matches.

They have won every home game under Flitcroft so far. They failed to win any of the final 11 home games under Keith Hill.

It must go without saying that David Flitcroft has made the best start of any Barnsley manager in history.

Chris Dagnall notched his seventh goal in his last eight matches to take his season tally to nine. This makes him the club’s joint top scorer with the departed Craig Davies. As recently as 11th January he had just two League Cup goals to his name for the club.
