A Look At The Weekend Action

24 February 2013 17:05
Incredible run finally ends at bogey ground………

………..It continues the remarkable number of goals that have been scored at Ashton Gate when these two sides meet. There have now been 32 in the last seven meetings and it is the second time Bristol City have won 5-3 in the last three years.

It is also the third time in three years that Barnsley have managed to score three times at this ground, but they have failed to win any of them. They lost 5-3 today and in 2010 and also drew 3-3 in 2010.

Barnsley have now lost by this score-line in each of the last two seasons and three of the last four. They were beaten 5-3 on two occasions last season.

Barnsley have now scored three times in each of their last three away games and have netted more than once in six successive matches for the first time in 13 years.

They have also now scored in each of their last 14 matches for the first time in 17 years.

Jason Scotland netted his fourth goal for the club in just six appearances- all from the substitutes bench, whilst Tomasz Cywka grabbed his third, and all three have come away from home.

Interesting to note that all three Barnsley goals yesterday were scored by the three subsitutues brought on (depending whether you feel O’Grady or Tunnicliffe got the decisive touch on the first goal)
