A Look At The Good Friday Action

06 April 2012 20:38
10 defeats in 13 matches now for Reds who are battered by Hammers. This 4-0 reverse being the second such score line in the last three matches at Oakwell and The Reds have now failed to score in seven of their last nine matches………

………Barnsley have now conceded at least four times at home on three occasions in the Championship this season (four if you include the FA Cup defeat to Swansea.) Before this campaign, you had to go back to the opening game of the 2007-2008 season for the last time they had done it even once. This is the first time they had seen at least four goals go past them at Oakwell more than once since the 2001-2002 season, and it is the first time it has happened three times since way back in 1927-28.

Barnsley have now lost eight league matches in front of their own supporters this season (with two more still to play). That is two more losses than they managed in the whole of 2010-2011 and equals the number of 2009-2010 and 2008-2009. They would need to lose both their final two home matches to equal the number set in their first season back in the Championship- 2006-2007.

The four goals The Reds shipped today means they have let in 32 at Oakwell this season- their worst home goals against tally since the 2002-2003 season when they let in 33 and were relegated. It is the first time they have broken the 30 goal against barrier at home since 2004-2005 when they let in 31.
