Stimson sees positives

Barnet manager Mark Stimson was relieved to have registered his first point in charge of the Bees after a goalless home draw with Burton. Stimson, installed as Ian Hendon's permanent replacement in June, was on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat at Chesterfield in his first competitive game in charge, so was content to take the point in his opening home game. Stimson said: "The team are gelling well, but unfortunately we didn't get the goal - it just wasn't to be. It's a new group we're putting together and we want them to gel, but sometimes it takes longer than you like. "But we faced a good side in Burton, who have added to their squad and have some good players at the back. For us to take the game to them for most of it was encouraging. "It was very important to get a positive result. You don't ever want to lose on your own patch, especially not in the first home game of season. "The squad we've put together showed we can compete with a team that finished in the top half, which is what we want."
