Alloa have one hand on the title

Alloa took another step towards the league title with a 2-0 victory away to Montrose, in a game that ended 10-a-side.

Ryan Harding was shown a straight red for the leaders following a late tackle on Montrose's Martin Boyle in the 19th minute.

Alloa still managed to create the best chance of the half as Graeme Holmes' fierce 25-yard drive needed to be tipped round the post by Michael Andrews.

Montrose lost their numerical advantage in the 79th minute as Alan Cambell was dismissed for his reckless tackle on Stephen May in the penalty area.

Ryan McCord made no mistake from the spot to give Alloa the lead.

McCord grabbed his second three minutes later, finishing off from close range after Darren Young's long-range effort had come back off the post.

Alloa need two more points to secure promotion.
