Mehmet hopes for cup upsets

Striker Billy Mehmet insists St Mirren will ignore all talk of Rangers' chances of claiming a domestic treble and focus their efforts on pulling off a double shock instead. Saints play host to the holders in the fifth round of the Active Nation Scottish Cup this weekend before both clubs meet again in the final of the Co-operative Insurance Cup next month. Rangers' semi-final win over St Johnstone - as well as their 10-point lead at the summit of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League - means Walter Smith's men are now being tipped for a clean sweep this season. But Mehmet - who has netted 10 goals in both cup competitions already this term - believes Saints can still have a major say in the destination of two of the trophies. "They are going to be the favourites to win and all we can do is go out there and try to cause an upset," he said. "All the talk is going to be about them but we won't worry about that, we will just concentrate on ourselves. "We put pressure on ourselves because we want to get through as well. It's not just about Rangers. They are obviously a big club but the boys in the dressing room think we are capable of causing an upset by getting through on Saturday and then winning the Co-operative Insurance Cup."
