Man detained over shopper attack

A man arrested after a knife attack on an 82-year-old woman is being held under the Mental Health Act.Ann Driscoll was stabbed nine times in the neck and stomach as she walked home from shopping in Harlesden, north-west London, on Monday. She remains in a central London hospital in a stable condition. Police said a 22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder was being detained in hospital for assessment under the Mental Health Act.
