King set for Bees exit

Barnet defender Simon King has been transfer-listed after turning down a new contract offer from the club.

The 24-year-old former Oxford United star has made 171 appearances for the Bees and scored seven goals, but now looks certain to be starting next term away from Underhill.

Disappointed chairman Tony Kleanthous told the club's official website: "I can assure supporters that Paul (Fairclough) and I did everything we could to persuade Simon to sign.

"Unfortunately, under new regulations, players can only sign with an agent for a two-year period so the representatives are constantly looking to move players on in that time to maximise their fees.

"These can be considerable if the agent can find a way to secure a free transfer."
