Hyde downs big-spending County

29 August 2009 19:01
Barnet started well and forced the first chance after seven minutes when Albert Jarrett crossed for John O'Flynn, but the striker could only head well over. But the visitors gained a foothold in the game and two minutes later a powerful 18-yard effort from Hughes was tipped over by Bees keeper Jake Cole. County had the ball in the net 10 minutes before the break when Ben Davies' low cross was stabbed in by Hughes, but Davies was adjudged to be offside. The hosts should have taken the lead five minutes into the second half when O'Flynn beat the offside trap but he somehow managed to fire wide when clean through before Albert Adomah forced Kasper Schmeichel into a good save on the hour. But in the dying seconds substitute Hyde capitalised on a loose ball in the six-yard box and steered beyond Schmeichel to grab all three points.
