Hendon hopes for final Furlong

Published: 13 Jun 2009 - 13:28:23

The 40-year-old impressed while on loan with the Bees last season, scoring nine goals in 21 appearances. He is set to become a free agent at the end of this month after parent club Southend opted not to extend his contract. "Paul is still under contract with Southend until the end of June and basically he is going to think about it over the summer before letting us know whether he is going to continue playing or not," Hendon told skysports.com. "He's at the stage of his career where his family are hoping to see a bit more of him than they do whilst he is a professional footballer, but Paul feels he can still bring something to the table as a player. "We obviously agree with the latter, but it is up to him whether he wants to pack it in or not. I'd like to think that Barnet will get first option on him if he does opt to continue."
