Hendon won promotion as a player at Sixfields in 2000 and believes Stuart Gray's current side can still mount a push this time around.
He said: "I had a good time at Northampton, I got promoted while I was there and actually loved every minute while I was at the club because we had a good group of lads.
"They've also got a fantastic set-up now, a fantastic stadium and good supporters and I'm not sure what the attendance was on Friday but we'd love crowds like that at Barnet.
"I know there's a few injuries at the football club at the moment but I'm sure once they are back they will be a strong side.
"They'll win the majority of their home games the way they play and I'm sure once they get up and running they will be fine."
