Hendon: Bees had to battle for win

30 September 2009 13:07
Hendon was unhappy with his side's 3-0 capitulation against Rotherham on Saturday and called his troops in for training the next day. But after watching 40-year-old Paul Furlong net the opener and John O'Flynn slot home a first-half penalty, Hendon insists he was delighted with their response. He said: "It's nice to bounce back and get a result. In the dressing room now, some of the players have ice packs on - we had a clean bill of health on Saturday, which tells you everything. They had a battle here. "I wouldn't say training on Sunday was a punishment, because that's the wrong word. We needed to get Rotherham out of our system and it was more of a cooler down session and a loosener - I think it helped. "It was Gary Breen's first start this season and it showed. It's nice to have him back and the other lads around him respond to him being there. That was the difference."
