Guiliano Grazioli admitted Barnet got what they deserved after watching his first game at the helm end in a 2-0 defeat against Bury.
Nicky Ajose and Mike Jones netted first-half goals as the Shakers secured a victory which leaves the Bees three points adrift of safety.
He said: "It was a fair result after the first half. We didn't start very well at all.
"We had a gameplan of turning them playing further up the pitch, but we just didn't get to grips with them. We looked sloppy, we looked tired and we looked heavy-legged.
"But we came out second half and put in the performance something like what I wanted, not exactly what I wanted but we showed a little more hunger, a little more fight, and I just wished we'd started the first half like that.
"I just said to them at half-time that you have set your standards the last three weeks, but you haven't been showing that standard out there."
