Barnet manager Paul Fairclough was relieved to come away from Gainsborough with a victory on Saturday after the Conference North side had pushed the Bees all the way.
The League Two side eventually reached the second round of the FA Cup by winning the clash 3-1, but they needed two late goals to see off their hosts.
Fairclough told the club's official website: "The FA Cup is all about drama and holding your nerve.
"At 1-0 our tails were up and the belief was massive but that's when cup shocks occur. Teams get complacent and go on and get beaten, but my players stayed strong and were convincing winners in the end.
"In terms of desire, effort and passion they had quality and everything was set up for a cup shock with a bobbly pitch, rain and wind.
"But it takes a lot of character to win these games and I'm delighted for my players, the supporters and everyone at the club."
