Bees sign veteran Furlong

Barnet manager Ian Hendon has signed Paul Furlong on a one-year deal after his nine goals in 21 appearances during last season's loan spell at Underhill.

The 40-year-old, who left Southend United earlier in the summer, claimed the management sold the club to him before he signed.

Speaking to the club's official website, Furlong said: "Ian Hendon, Lee Harrison, Gary Breen and Mark Stein have sold the club to me.

"I was in the wilderness at Southend at the start of the year when Barnet came in and gave me a chance of first-team football and to show I can still score goals."

Furlong has played over 500 games in an 18-year League career and can also list Coventry City, Watford, Chelsea, QPR, and Luton Town as previous employers.

Manager Ian Hendon said of the signing: "I'd like to thank Paul for his utmost honesty with me. He promised to sign for Barnet.

"He made it clear to me that he wasn't going anywhere else, although other clubs were interested in him, even at League One level.
