Barnet have failed with an ambitious attempt to land experienced Luton Town striker Paul Furlong.
Bees boss Paul Fairclough is keen to bolster his shot-shy strikeforce as he bids to banish any lingering relegation fears.
However, a statement on Barnet's official website read: "Chairman Tony Kleanthous contacted the Hatters last week about the former Premier League striker and was told that he would get an answer this week.
"He has been told that Luton will not let the player go."
The former Birmingham City and QPR forward has scored 12 goals in 35 appearances for the Hatters.
