Bees chief spells out King deal

Barnet chairman Tony Kleanthous has revealed that the Bees will receive a considerable sell-on fee if striker Marlon King is sold by Gillingham.

The 23-year-old has been linked with Nottingham Forest and also Spurs some time ago and Kleanthous is aware that any deal will benefit the Underhill club.

He told the Barnet Times: "There has been a lot of speculation about the Marlon King deal and I want to set the record straight.

"We've got roughly a 20 per cent clause on anything over £500,000.

"The reason why it is not an exact figure is due to bonuses relating to performance payments which we have already received, so therefore the actual figures for the sell-on are lower."

King left the Bees in the summer of 2000 for £255,000, having scored 14 goals in 53 league games for Barnet.
