Barnet's Paul Fairclough has been handed his first ever manager of the month award in his third season as a Football League boss.

The Bees chief saw off the challenge of MK Dons' Paul Ince, Keith Hill of Rochdale and Paul Lambert from Wycombe Wanderers to claim the League Two accolade for September.

Fairclough was handed the gong after guiding his club to three wins and two draws during an unbeaten month.

"I am happy and proud to receive it," he told the club's official website.

"But these two (assistant Ian Hendon and physio Mark Stein), not forgetting the players, have made a massive contribution.

"The players are enjoying the moment. We have got them back to earth and looking forward to the game against Stockport on Saturday."
