The 40-year-old former Chelsea star headed in his 200th career goal after 51 minutes, and this result coupled with Chester's home defeat by Macclesfield means the Bees are safe for another year. Hendon said: "I'm absolutely delighted we are safe, and it's great that Paul Furlong was at Barnet when he scored his 200th league goal. "I'm delighted for Paul. Since he's been here he's been a model professional and you could see from the celebration after the goal, the lads have really taken to him. He's a bit of a father figure in the dressing room, but he digs in and works his socks off as well." Hendon admitted his side had ridden their luck, adding: "Bournemouth are probably the toughest opposition we've come up against, especially in recent weeks. "They could have probably been out of sight in the first half. But if you can play badly and win 1-0 there must be something about your side."
