Bira Dembele will be assessed before Barnet's clash with Colchester

Barnet manager Martin Allen will make a late decision on defender Bira Dembele ahead of Saturday's League Two match at home to Colchester.

Dembele has bruised ribs and will undergo a fitness test before the clash.

Michael Gash and James Pearson are both out with knee problems while midfielder Justin Amaluzor is also expected to miss the game with a muscle strain.

Gavin Hoyte has begun light training following a knee ligament injury but this weekend will come too soon for the defender.

Colchester will check on the fitness of midfielder Tom Lapslie, who limped off in last weekend's win over Blackpool with an ankle injury.

Scotland Under-21s midfielder Craig Slater could come into contention for a starting place, along with Glen Kamara, who came off the bench against Blackpool to make his debut after signing on loan from Arsenal.

Midfielder Owen Garvan (knee) is still not fit, while left-back Matt Briggs continues his recovery following hip surgery.

Midfielder Doug Loft is set for around three months out with an Achilles injury.
