Davids absent for Bees

Barnet are expected to be without Edgar Davids for the visit of Aldershot.

The head coach was forced off with a shoulder injury as Barnet came from two goals down to draw with Exeter at the weekend.

The result meant the Bees had picked up seven points from a possible nine over the Christmas period but the likely loss of the former Dutch international comes as a big blow.

Davids, who took solo charge for the first time following Mark Robson's departure, will have further tests on his shoulder to assess the full extent of his injury.

Jon Nurse replaced Davids and kick-started the fightback with a 76th-minute goal and could make the starting XI.

But strikers Collins John (hernia), Ishmail Kamara (shoulder) and Steve Kabba (knee) remain unavailable.

Aldershot are without suspended captain Ben Herd for their New Year's Day trip.

The right-back was due to return for the game at Underhill, but after Saturday's game against Torquay was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, Herd will now serve the final game of his three-match ban against the Bees.

Manager Dean Holdsworth has no new injury or suspension worries following the postponement, meaning he can name an unchanged team for the meeting of the two relegation-threatened sides.

Olly Lancashire continues to be sidelined with an abdomen complaint which has kept him out of the team since October.

Fellow long-term absentee Craig Stanley is moving closer to his first appearance of the season following a broken leg, but remains a couple of weeks away from action.

The Shots are looking to record a league double against Edgar Davids' men, after a 1-0 victory in September.
