Barnet boosted by returning stars

Barnet hope to welcome back a host of players for the visit of Accrington.

Strikers Collins John and Ricky Holmes have trained this week after shaking off injuries and are in contention.

Former Fulham forward John has missed the last two matches with a thigh problem and Holmes has been out for a month with an ankle injury.

Midfielder John Oster is also on the mend after a calf injury and left-back Jordan Brown is poised to return following a groin strain.

Bosses Mark Robson and Edgar Davids will be considering making changes after the Bees were thumped 4-1 at Morecambe last weekend.

Striker Steve Kabba (knee) and back-up goalkeeper Liam O'Brien (pelvis) are still on the sidelines.

Accrington boss Leam Richardson must decide whether to hand player-coach James Beattie his debut in the televised npower League Two clash.

Richardson enjoys the luxury of a clean bill of health ahead of the game against a Bees team boasting their own high-profile participatory member of the coaching staff in Edgar Davids.

And former England international Beattie is ready to answer the call if required by his one-time Blackburn team-mate Richardson.

"I am hungry and want to play," he told the Lancashire Telegraph. "I wouldn't be here if I wasn't. You miss the playing and the whole atmosphere about being part of the club. There is no working environment like it.

"You are a long time retired and that time is not for me. I am here and still harbouring ambitions to play at a higher level. With me not playing consistently for two and half years my body feels good."
