John Akinde brace steers Barnet to win over Leyton Orient

John Akinde scored twice as Leyton Orient's Sky Bet League Two play-off hopes suffered a further setback with a 3-0 defeat at Barnet.

The forward struck either side of Sam Togwell's deflected drive to leave Orient, who missed a penalty through captain Lloyd James, without a win in four and two points off the top seven.

Akinde opened the scoring in the 26th minute, rising unmarked to nod James Pearson's whipped cross into the right corner, while excellent saves from Bees goalkeeper Jamie Stephens twice denied Orient's Nigel Atangana.

The visitors wasted a golden opportunity to level three minutes after the restart when midfielder James saw his low penalty saved by Stephens, after Bees captain Andy Yiadom had brought down Orient left-back Jerome Binnom-Williams.

Togwell compounded the away side's misery a minute later when his 20-yard effort found the bottom right corner via a flick off a defender, following Luke Gambin's shot against the crossbar.

Akinde added a third in the 58th minute, beating goalkeeper Alex Cisak to the ball and heading in his 18th of the season into the unguarded net, as Barnet made it two wins out of their last three.
