Josh Clarke steers Barnet to win over Exeter

Josh Clarke scored one and made another as Barnet stretched their unbeaten run to four Sky Bet League Two matches with a 2-0 success over mid-table Exeter.

The Bees edged in front in the 34th minute when midfielder Clarke nutmegged Ryan Harley on the right and whipped in a cross which was headed into his own goal by Grecians defender Troy Brown.

Exeter striker Tom Nichols then wasted a golden opportunity to equalise five minutes later when he hesitated and missed the chance to pull the trigger after David Wheeler slipped him clean through on Jamie Stephens' goal.

On-loan Brentford man Clarke doubled Barnet's lead nine minutes after the restart, running half the length of the pitch following a cleared Exeter corner before slotting his third goal in four games past Grecians goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik.

Winger Wheeler came close to halving the deficit when his low shot from inside the penalty box was pushed past the right post by Stephens.

The away side dominated possession in the closing stages but failed to find a way back into the game.
