Millwall too strong for Barnet at the Hive

Millwall sealed their place in the second round of the EFL Cup with a comfortable 4-0 over League Two side Barnet at The Hive.

The home side actually made much of the early running but Millwall took the lead when John Akinde sliced Joe Martin's free-kick into his own net in the 23rd minute.

Aiden O'Brien's 35th-minute goal had an element of fortune too, the ball breaking to him 20 yards out from goal with only goalkeeper to beat and he stroked it home with aplomb.

After the break, Barnet again started the half brightly with both Ryan Watson and substitute Michael Gash testing Jordan Archer and Alex Nicholls failing to convert a free header from 10 yards out.

But Steve Morison put the result beyond doubt in the 75th minute, nodding David Worrall's corner in at the near post.

Fred Onyedinma was then felled by tired challenge from Michael Nelson and stepped up to make it four from the penalty spot in the 81st minute.
