Barnet and Morecambe in dull stalemate

Morecambe's winless run in Sky Bet League Two stretched to three games as they were held to a goalless draw at fellow mid-table side Barnet.

Shrimps top scorer Tom Barkhuizen should have put his side in front with the first chance of the game in the 30th minute but his side-footed effort from Paul Mullin's centre was turned behind for a corner by Bees goalkeeper Jamie Stephens.

The striker was then denied by an offside flag after tapping home following Lee Molyneux's saved shot.

Barnet, who failed to create a clear opening in the first period, twice went close to breaking the deadlock soon after the restart.

On-loan midfielder Josh Clarke was denied by a smothering save from visiting keeper Barry Roche after being teed up by Michael Gash before striker John Akinde blazed over when through on goal.

Both teams lacked a cutting edge in a scrappy second half and, despite four minutes of added on time, neither could make a breakthrough as they settled for a point apiece.
