Aldershot - Barnet: Report

Fog calls halt to Shots clash Dean Holdsworth saw his hopes of a third home win on the spin ruined by fog as Aldershot`s clash with Barnet was abandoned at the break with the game all square at 1-1. The Shots were in the ascendancy at the interval with Anthony Charles' equaliser on the half hour cancelling out Mark Marshall's early stunner, but with the weather closing in, referee Chris Sarginson was left with no option but to call an early halt. The Bees stunned the home fans when they took the lead after just nine minutes. Marshall's stunning 25-yard shot flew into the top corner, giving Jamie Young no chance, for his sixth goal of the season. But Aldershot grew into the game and drew level on the half hour as Charles made the most of indecision in the Barnet box to nod home Alex Rodman's cross from close range. Danny Hylton then fired just wide after a neat touch from Jermaine McGlashan, and from the resulting corner Aldershot again threatened with a goalmouth scramble which was cleared off the line as the fog worsened. The Shots thought they had taken the lead five minutes before the break when Rodman's cross ended up in the net but the goal was ruled out with Charles offside, and that was the last of the action.
