Internazionale striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is considering ending his international career with Sweden.
The 28-year-old was unable to help his country reach the World Cup Finals in South Africa next summer and has opted to sit out the friendly with Italy to ponder his options.
Newly-installed Sweden head coach Erik Hamren told Fotbollskanalen: "I spoke to him and he confirmed to me that he has doubts over his future with the national team.
"I've spoken with Zlatan and, until he has made a decision, I won't call him to the squad. You can lead a horse to the water, but he has to drink himself.
"As a manager it is important that players have the motivation to play.
"For me, the most important thing is that you have your heart in what you do."
